Activities
As Wardley Gate provides residential care in Gateshead, where there is plenty in the area to keep us all busy. Our activities are based on the interests, desires and wishes of our residents.
Therefore we seek to cater to all our residents’ requests, no matter how big or small.
Light Exercise
Our residents are encouraged to join stimulating classes such as light exercise. Residents of varying levels of flexibility meet in the lounge, with assistants on hand to help provide encouragement and support where required.
Day Trips
We arrange day trips with our very own minibus. Our residents enjoy a variety of excursions such as a day at the seaside and to the park. Prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic shopping trips to Newcastle and the Metro Centre as well as visits to the cinema and theatre were also enjoyed. We are looking forward to this taking place again when it is safe to do so.
Visits from Entertainers
Wardley Gate has regular visits from local musicians and entertainers who cater for different musical tastes. Teas and cakes are often served while our residents enjoy a sing-a-long! With the COVID-19 Pandemic these have adapted to take place outside in our car park!
We arrange a whole host of other individual or group activities such as Knit & Natter, Cookery Club, Bingo, Gardening and so much more. Please feel free to enquire about them.
Our own Pub TV and Sporting Events
As Wardley Gate was built on the land that held The Black Bull Pub we thought we would keep a hold of its history by having our very own Pub too!
We have Men’s Club for a game of Dominoes, snooker or darts. Our residents enjoy a refreshing drink whilst watching the local or national football matches. Even though all residents have television access within the privacy of their own room, the atmosphere is just so much better in The Black Bull.
Other activities at Wardley Gate, Residential Care in Gateshead
We have a vast range of activities as we recognise that this is such an important part of the day. When residents come into Wardley Gate they have a jam packed day whether it is using our 22″ interactive tablet or having a pamper too. We are always open to suggestions from our residents and their families for other types of activities to suit individual preferences. All of our activities come at no extra cost to our residents.
